Question:
Anyone lost 200+??
I want to lose 260 and it seems quite daunting! I would REALLY appreciate hearing from some people who have been successful at losing such a large amount and anything you may have done that really helped. I need some tips and inspiration! Thank you!!! — jen41766 (posted on October 20, 2002)

Hi Jennifer, I read your profile and see that you and I have the same
surgeon. Dr. T is great. Anyway, I have lost almost 180 lbs and when I get
to goal I will have lost 200 lbs. I am coming up on my 15 month
anniversary. I followed Dr. Tillquist orders, and basically stayed on the
Atkins diet, high protein, low carbs for a majority of my post op life. He
was aware of my diet and said he was pleased with it. I have strayed from
the atkins diet here recently and have lost very slowly lately. Am I
telling myself something?? hehe. Best wishes to you!

Well I HOPE to lose 190 and have 33 more to go. It's possible, but seems
rather hard the closer I (or we) get. :)

I believe you can lose as much as you want to lose if you're willing to
work hard enough. I've lost 230 pounds in the last 14 months. The surgery
was only part of it though. My weight loss didn't really kick in until I
started hitting the gym. I'm still losing very consistently and I've
decided to see just how far I can go. I realize that at some point I'll
hit a wall where there's nothing left to lose but skin and then I plan to
have surgery.

I have lost 255 pounds since having duodenal switch surgery 5/00. I
exercise moderately, mostly riding a stationary bike and yoga. I eat
pretty much whatever I want. I have about 50 more to go. Thirty-eight
pounds of that was excess skin that was removed. I have about 10 pounds of
skin to be removed from my arms. I am not trying to lose weight right now
as I am in the healing process from the reconstructive surgery of skin
removal and have had some complications of wound infections and seromas
(fluid filled sacs at the incisions). However, the minute my skin is all
healed up, it is back to exercising...Good Luck to you!!!
