Do you have any whitish discoloration on your tongue? I have had it both
with the whitish color on my touch and caught it earlier with just a
painful tongue. It could be thrush (an oral yeast infection). Your doc
may be surprised but ask them to swab you and check to see if its yeast. I
ended up with it off & on for a while. My doc had never seen it in a
healthy grown adult - she even insisted I have an AIDES test! But see your
doc. Thrush is nasty and can spread down your throat making eating almost
impossible. Plus its super easy to treat.

Even if you are taking B12, please ask to get your B12 levels tested. Are
you taking 2 of a multi-vite equal to Centrum? The sore tongue thing can
be -- who knows? But you can easily rule out B-vite problems with testing,
cheap 'n fast.

It could be thrust, but several times in my adult life, I have gotten a
very sore tongue with lots of actual little cuts in it, a white tongue and
even sores on it. I brush my tongue regularly with my tooth brush,
recommended by many dentist but several times, have had to have it looked
at and it was a fungus (not thrust)and was easily treated with a mouth
wash. It is probably not related to your surgery but when in doubt, get it
checked.
