Question:
Looking for someone with same stats. 5 ft. 7 in. 260 lbs.
How fast did you loose the weight. I already realize everyone is different, and will loose weight at different speeds. Just looking for an idea. Thanks — Christi S. (posted on September 22, 2002)

Cristy, I was 266 pre op. I am 39 y.o. I had my surgery on June 11. Today,
Sept 23 I weigh 208. I've lost 58 pounds in 3.5 months. The first month I
lost about 25 pounds, then 18, then 15. After you get closer to 200# the
wt. loss slows down, but at this weight I feel and look so much better,
healthier, sexier, more beautiful and graceful. I can't believe my
"before" picture (will post it soon.)My goal is 150. My surgeon
says 155-135 is a good range for me. Good luck to you. Write me if you'd
like. :) Liz H.

Christi, I am 5'7" and started at 230. Pretty close to you. I am now
11 months post and already below goal..goal was 135 and I am at 132. That
is a 98 pound loss. I just purchased my first size 8 jeans and it felt
great!!! They were low rise flares. Feels good to wear "sexy"
and stylish clothing. I continue to lose but very slow. Hope I dont lose
much more....(thought I would never hear myself say that!!!) LOL Anyways,
this has been my experience. Hope you have a good one as well. Best of
luck to ya!!

Hi - I'm fairly close to you. I am 5'7" and started at 277. I had
Open RNY on March 28, 2002 and as of today, I have lost almost 100 pounds
(weighed in this morning at 178.5). I have followed my recommended diet, I
joined a gym and go 3 - 5 days per week, and the weight just keeps coming
off. It has slowed some lately, but still coming off just the same. But
the best part of this all - I FEEL WONDERFUL! Good luck! Lisa

I am 5' 6" and 3/4 started at 266. My one year anniversary is in a
couple weeks and I now weigh 155 and am wearing 12's. Most of my weight
came off the first 6 months, and is slowly coming off still. I dont
excersise like i should, and I dont pay too close attention to what i eat
anymore, so the slow loss is my own fault. good luck to you.

I'm 5'6" and started at 250. I'm now 10.5 months post-op and in the
normal range of BMI and body fat. Lightweights do lose at a slower pace,
but don't let that get you down, you will get to goal much quicker!! My
progress of weight-loss is on my profile towards the end.

I'm 5'6 and was 270 on surgery day (March 5). I'm now at 175.5 and wear a
size 14. I don't exercise as often as I should (went today for the first
time in about 3 weeks), but I feel great and everybody tells me I look
great. Things have slowed down a lot in the last 6 weeks, but I'm hoping
to jump start that with the gym again.
Good luck!

on 10-10-01 and weighed 296lbs I weighed 174lbs about a week ago. 122lbs
gone forever. I have went from a size 26 to a size 12. It feels GREAT.
GOOD LUCK.

I had an open, distal, non-transected, RNY on 05/07/02. I am 5 foot 6 1/2
inches and was 263 lbs pre-op. I now weigh 191 lbs which is a 72 lb loss
in about 4.5 months. I've had no complications and feel wonderful.

I am 5'6 and started at 253 lbs. I had open RNY 11-12-01 and I am now down
by 135 lbs (have been since about 8 months) I am maintaining at about 118
lbs. I e-mailed you my weight loss chart, but remember EVERYONE loses
differently so it is only reference. GOOD LUCK!

Hey lite-weight sisters,
What amazes me the most is the differences in clothing sizes for women at
the same size and weight......I'm 5'7" I had my DS on Feb 25 of this
year weighing a horrible 270 lbs. I'm now 1 day short of my 7 months
anniversary and 174 lbs. Started in size 22/24 and I'm now comfortably in
size 12 with all my 14 clothes getting way too big. Loose skin is not yet
a big problem with the possible exeption of my inner thighs that have a
slightly drapey, jiggly look to them.... Happy? yes very much, thank
you!!!

I am 5'7", weighed 260 lbs and wore a size 24 bottom and 22/24 top on
June 5, 2002 when I had lap DS. Last time I weighed myself, I weighed 190
and wear size 16-18 (smaller in more expensive brands!) bottom and XL
shirt! I do not exercise (initally was waiting 3 mos before strenuous
stuff...no longer have any excuse!) and eat what I want...just try to do
protein first!
