I was told I had Crohn's in 88. Went in remission. Got sick again. I had
RNY in 2000. All Crohn's symtoms went away. I was told by Crohn's
patients it would get better with bypass so did it. It was gone for 3
years. Now in 2003 I have symptoms of Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis
(which they say does not happen). Also intense rib cage pain. Marginal
ulcer probably. Going to doc tomorrow. I have severe anemia. And if you
have Crohn's come back on you your gonna have amemia much worse than other
patients. If your disease is or was at one time mild to severe I wouldn't
do it. I never regretted this surgury til this disease came back.

I had RNY Gastric Bypass 3/28/02, I have lost from 361 to 125. I feel
wonderful. I never knew I had Crohn's until January 2004. I have a lot of
diarhea and I keep losing weight. If I had had Crohn's prior to surgery my
surgeon would not have done the RNY. I had Irritable Bowel Syndrome for
several years. Diarhea was normal for me when I ate certain foods.
However, now the Crohns is active. My doctor wants to start me on Remecade
IV Therapy. It is expensive however, he says it will help put it in
remission. The tests have worn me down. I have gas a lot too. BAD gas.
If someone else out there has had the Gastric Bypass and then found out
they have Crohn's what did you do? Are you better now? Please help me
with this.
Thanks,
Joyce Davis
