Question:
6 days post op and Gained 5 pounds, has anyone else held fluid

Has anyone gained weight after surgery from fluid retention? I am so uncomfortable right now. Please advise!!    — Vikki C. (posted on September 5, 2002)

DONOT worry. When I was in the hospital I left weighing 10 pounds more than what I started at. It will come off just drink lots of fluids. Good Luck Lynne

i was in the hospital for 7 days, and gained as much as 20 pounds, because of IV fluids. Once off the IV, the weight came off...

I was in the hospital for 7 days and during that time I gained over 30 pounds in fluid from the IV. I know it was more than 30 pounds but the nurses refused to let me see the scale after that, because i was so upset about it. I was so bloated when i came home i coouldnt wear my slippers or my shoes because they didnt fit. I felt like a stuffed suasage. I was given water pills to get the fluid off , it took like a week then the world was fine again. Good luck

5 days post-op I was admitted in the hospital with fluid .Overnight 23lb of fluid off but i was very sick for 5 more days
