Sounds like it could I know when i got into a car accident and i was put on
that and I was on atkins at the time I noticed i platuaed big time but if
you need it for the pain and your not living on it day to day. You should
be ok maybe you should seek alternative pain meds. Or try seeking some
holistic medicine.

It is definatly a constipating medication!! It also tends to slow down your
system. You might want to try to cut down on it some or supliment with
another med. Good Luck!!~

I am 7 weeks post-op and have been on hydrocodone before and after the
surgery, I am presently on it for the same thing, back pain. I have lost
57 pounds and have not noticed a decrease in weight lose. Also, it did
constipate me once, and I took milk of mag and have not had a problem
since.

Just imagine how you felt without the hydocodone. Youe MD must have you on
that regime for a reason. Were you able to move around comfortably without
that med? will you be able to take something else and still be able to move
and exercise? Your surgeon will not encourage you to take NSAIDs because
they will irritate your stomach and could cause bleeding much more now than
before.57 pounds sounds great to me for 7 weeks post-op. Yes, all narcotics
are constipating. Senna usually helps and colce.Good luck, be comfortable
and exercise. The weight will come off and your back will feel better if you
are able to strengthen the muscles and exercise while you are losing!

I also take lortab (hydrocodone) daily for chronic pain. It has not slowed
my weight loss down I dont think as I am 6 1/2 months out and within 20
pounds from goal. I told my surgeon before my RNY surgery that I would be
on this and stronger meds for life as I have neuropathy. He and my pain
managment doc both agreed that it would be no problem. It does sometimes
cause constipation and MOM does wonders.
