Question:
I am 6 months post op and haven''t lost weight in 3 weeks.
I feel hungry alot more but seem to be eat around the same amount. I am depressed about this I was hoping to be dowm at least 70lbs by 6 months and have lost 62lbs. I have another question. It seems every time I take calcium citrate I get headaches. Has anyone else had this problem? — Bonnie S. (posted on July 15, 2002)

I had a 6 wk plateau at 6 months post-op. I think that is a favorite time
for plateaus to rear their ugly heads. I havent' had a prob with the
citrate so I can't help you there.

I didn't see how much you had weighed before surgery, but it sounded like
you were a smaller one. I was 221 when I went in for surgery, I was 146
after 6 months, and now I have stayed the same. It's been about 9 months.
I don't think everyone always gets to goal weight, but it sounds like you
are doing well. I wouldn't worry too much. I bet you'll start back again
soon. Good luck

62 pounds in 6 months is GREAT! That's over 10 pounds/month. Your body
could be losing inches right now, and inches don't show up on the scale. If
you are real concerned, try doing a bit more exercise and don't weigh
yourself too often. It could be close to your time of the month and you
could be holding water. Relax, you are doing fine!

Bonnie, check out the library of old Q & A postings-go to post-op
issues and look under plateaus. 3 weeks is not a long plateau believe it
or not, try 3 months!! 62 in 6 months is great, especially if you started
as a "light weight". You've got nothing to be depressed
about....
