Question:
It has been 12 days and it seems like I am already at a standstill, is that normal?
I did, what appears, to have lost 20 pounds in the first week, so am I expecting too much with wanting to keep the weight coming off? — Sherrie S. (posted on July 10, 2002)

Your body needs time to adjust to all the changes that have been imposed on
it. If you're like me (and a lot of others on this site), you will lose
your weight in hitches--2 pounds here, 1 pound here, 9 pounds there, etc.
My advice would be to stay off the scales. If you only weigh yourself
every 2 to 4 weeks, you will be delighted with the results because you
won't even see the small plateaus that your body is bound to experience.

I had my surgery 6/17 and lost about 20 lbs. between that date and 7/3.
Went back to weigh last Mon. and I had gained 2 lbs. I got greedy, hoping
that I had lost the 2nd week like I had the 1st week. In fact, I didn't
even give it a week. I sabotaged myself. Don't do it!! Weigh every
couple of weeks, or at the very most, once weekly. If you're doing the
right things, the weight will come off. Keep up with the water and the
protein and don't let the scale be the only way you can tell if you're
succeeding.
