Question:
I have PVC's. will this automatically omit me from having RNY?
I have been diagnosed with PVCs has anyone ever been turned down because of this? I need the surgery. — jackie F. (posted on June 28, 2002)

Unless you have a huge number of them it shouldnt affect anything.
Everyone has a PVC every now and then. Just in case you didnt know, it
stands for premature ventricular contraction. It just means your heart is
having a premature beat. Drinking caffeine or smoking can cause them, and
some medications. If you think it might be a problem, cut out the
stimulants such as those mentioned above. If that doesnt work, definately
talk to a doctor to see what might be causing them. Good luck!!

I have these, and all I had to do was get a letter for cardiac clearance
from my cardiologist. Post-op June 11 2002.

I had those pre op and the surgeon knew and it did not keep me from having
the surgery June 11th. I actually think they are less now, maybe less
stress, now that the surgery is over. I did a lot of worrying
unnecessarily.

I had some that showed up during my sleep study, but I was still allowed to
have surgery.
