Hi there! I'm six weeks post-op. I lost 21 pounds in the first 10 days
after surgery and then went on a two week plateau. Your body needs to
catch up to the weightloss and readjust. I noticed even when I wasn't
losing pounds, I was loosing inches. I can also tell you that my husband
hid my scale at two and half weeks out and it was the best thing he could
have done. I won't weigh again until my appointment on the 14th of JUNE.
My clothes are fitting better; people have complimented my weightloss; and
I feel great! I just put on a pair of 24 shorts this morning and at the
time of surgery I was wearing a 28. Don't get discouraged - I did and I
can tell you - it will work!!!

Wow Rochele, my weight loss has been the SAME as yours! My surgery was May
16. I lost a bunch and now it has slowed aready. Our body is just
"adjusting", I am sure. But i feel thinner already and I know
this will not end... it will only get better and better. Hang in there and
let's check back in a few months so we can do a happy dance together!!
Blessings for your journey!!!

I am three weeks and one day out and I have lost 24 lbs. Mabey you are
retaining water b/c I know if you don't drink enough you will hold it in.
Also I think our bodies are going through alot and they do need to adjust.
Wait until your 1 month appointment and see what your Doc says.

Hey, I am 3 weeks out and have lost 12 pounds. I posted a few days ago,
being discouraged with my 5 pound loss. Now, I am happy with 12 pounds.
Keep track of your weight loss (www.fitday.com is a good way) -- it will
help you identify plateaus and show you that they end too! I still am
challenged by the fluids. Fat cells cannot release fat unless their is
sufficient water to replace it. Fluids ARE important -- to fat loss, as
well as weight loss. Make sure you are getting enough calories. Someone
posted for me that maybe this 300 calorie a day mania was kicking my body
into starvation mode. The less I lost, the less I ate. So I added
nutritional calories to bring me up to 600 - 800 a day. Whether that had
anything to do with my sudden return to losing, I don't know. But I have
enough nutritional background to know that it can happen that way.
Finally, a way to kill two birds with one stone, try SUGAR FREE Carnation
Instant Breakfasts. This way, you get metabolism-stimulating calories, 8
ounces of fluid and a good dose of vitamins all at once. My doctor
recommends 1/4 cup of skim milk every half hour. I don't do that, because
I am trying to get AWAY from snacking, but it goes along the same lines of
logic. Good luck!

I am nearly 5 months post-op and have lost about 75 lbs. I can totally
relate to your fears. I went through the same thing early on. After a few
months, I came to realize that I only lose weight 2 weeks out of every
month - it's a hormonal thing, I guess. I've been tracking it, and it's
consistant each month. No weight loss for 2 weeks, then drop 10-15 lbs.
the next two weeks. Never fails. Hang in there!
