Question:
Does anyone else suffer being tired all the time?

I am 10 1/2 months post op and have lost 130lbs and am at my goal weight. PRAISE GOD!! Anyhow, I do feel tired most the time. Everyone thinks cuz i have lost my weight, I should have all this energy but I dont. I do feel better and can do alot more than I use to but i am tired all the time. What do you think the problem is? or is this normal after losing so much weight. Thanks in advance//Candiss    — Candiss T. (posted on May 16, 2002)

I would suggest having your iron levels checked.

Hi- I don't know how old you are, but it could be a sign of perimenopause also. I would suggest seeing your doctor as previous posters have discussed. Maybe it is a hormone problem.

Do you take B-12? I prefer the injections, and I know almost to the day when I am due.

What about sleep apnea? Even thin people can have it.

You are not alone ... I was the same way and then sometime between my 10th and 11th month post op, the energy finally "kicked in" and I have been going strong ever since. It is probably a good idea to see your doc and rule out any physical problems ... check your labs. But it could be that your body still just needs some extra rest ... we truly are all different. I was 43 when I had my surgery, and I definitely think age, pre-surgery health (mine was not great) and hormonal factors played a role in my post op fatigue.

Hi, I'm 14 months out, and 30 years old. I have reached goal, and I too , expected a LOT more energy. I do find myself extremely tired at times, but it has gotten better sice I started taking an iron supplement. I often wonder if it's the meds I'm on, ie antidepressants, etc. But I do notice the tiredness, and I'm achy sometimes , too, especially if I've overexerted myself. Maybe I need to make a visit to to the lab myself. BTW, you're not alone. Love, Donna in AL

I know how you feel. I've lost 138 pounds of the 190 I hope to lose. I'm a year post op and still feel like I've been run over by a truck. Where is all this energy everyone keeps talking about?
