Hi Christine...I thought I might have an ulcer too. You are a very recent
post-op. Our new tummies are very sensitive to what we are putting in
them. I am now 11 weeks post op and things have gotten much better for me.
I found out that I simply can not drink or eat any foods that might have
any type of acidic qualities, like all the crystal lite drinks, lemonaide,
tea w/lots of lemon, even Orange Juice will give me a burning pain. When I
1st got the pain, my dr reccommended that I take liquid Maalox 1/2 have the
usual adult dosage 1/2 hr before my meals. As long as I stay away from the
acidic things I am OK now. I hope it gets better for you soon.

Hi Christine,
I recently had the same problem about a month ago. It feels like a empty,
burning sensation. It goes away for a few minutes when you eat right ?
I got really scared, and ended up calling my surgeon. They reordered my
Prevacid, and /or Protonix. This medication decreases the stomach acids in
your pouch. The empty, burning sensation is to much stomach acids are being
produced, for your pouch to handle. You may need to take this medication
for an additional few months until your pouch is ready to handle it - by
the way were you prescribed anything for stomach acids after surgery ?
Hopefully they did. Once I began taking my Prevacid it went away almost
overnight. Take care.
