Question:
SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER
IF MY INSURANCE COMPANY APPROVES PRE BLOOD WORK, AND XRAYS, THAT PROBABLY MEANS THEY WILL APPROVE THE WLS, OR WHY APPROVE ANYTHING AT ALL???? — Christi S. (posted on May 4, 2002)

It's based on what diagnosis the doctor puts on the bloodwork and x-rays.
If he puts for example chest pains as the diagnosis, the insurance would
cover that with no questions asked.

Christie- I agree with the other poster. Just because the insurance company
is covering tests, does not mean it will authorize your WLS. I would
suggest several things. RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH. Go through the
extensive library through AMOS reading about pre-authorizations. Second, go
to the postings on this website of the insurance section in your state and
see if there is anyone else who has your type of insurance. Third you can
contact your employer or insurance company and ask them for a copy of their
policy on WLS. There is a very good reference from Walter on
obesitylaw.com. When I called Blue Cross I cited the actual Safety and
Health code, and they faxed me a copy right away. If you still need help,
feel free to email me.
