Question:
Where is the web page with the page for spouses of people who've had WLS?

I've really looked for it, but can't find it. I think her first name is Barbara, but I'm not sure.....Can anyone help? My DH is really having trouble dealing with the "new" me. Any comments appreciated. Thank you! Donna in AL    — Donna S. C. (posted on May 2, 2002)

Their names are Frank and Barbara Thompson. The web address is wwww.wlscenter.com/Significant_Others.htm I printed this specific page off for my husband to read and I think it helped him understand that he is not the only man that has had questions about this surgry. Good Luck!!

Michelle Robinson posted a letter to other spouses from husband yesterday on the message board. At this point, it's probably back 3 or 4 pages. Anyway it is really good. If you can't find it, email me and I'll send you a copy. Her daughter also wrote a great letter to other kids whose mothers are having the surgery. I also have a copy of that if you want.

Dear Donna, I mean no disrespect to the Thompson's, but her book in no way prepared me for what would happen in Keith's surgical procedure or as he recuperates in the hospital today. There is much more involved than buying slip on slippers, bringing a book, and having a loved one present for the first 24hrs post op. There is also much more to deal with psychologically and emoptionally for both the patient and the significant other. I am working on an article for professional publication of pre-surgical counseling. I feel that the patient and the family needs time to prepare for this dramatic change and the various challenges it presents for the entire family and support structure. Although Thompson's book can be helpful to some people your loved ones will get more information via sources who aren't trying to make a profit from their theories. I would be happy to offer my own experience and that of my fiancee' Keith. God Bless
