well i dont know where in fl you are but theres quite a few good
surgeons--dr marema in south florida theres usually a long wait to get in
with him and his associates then in the tampa area west coast theres dr
rehnke, dr butler, and dr haicken--rehnke and butler requires less pre op
testing but you could probably get in sooner with dr haicken in largo i had
him as my surgeon originally not to pleased with his bed side mannor and
your probably more of a number on his list to him but he is a good surgeon
and has some of the best stats as far as fewer complications rate,i like
rehnke he is willing to spend time with you to answer all your questions
etc butler you can get in with pretty fast too all 3 of these surgeons
operate at hospitals that are in the top 100 in the country,in the ocala
area theres dr overcash ive heard good things about him as well best thing
to do is go to the surgeon list on this site and check out what their
patients reviews are---good luck and best wishes

Melissa's right. Dr. Marema, Overcash, Rehnke, Hocking, Murr...there's
lots. Just click FIND A DOC and then click on Florida. You'll find lots
of Surgeons there.
Now, Dr. Haicken is my dr...and I luv ya Melissa, but Dr. Haicken has been
absolutely WONDERFUL to me and "almost" all of his patients. For
me and the majority, he has been a sweet, kind-hearted, gentle man and I
hold him in the upmost respect. Unfortunately, Melissa did have a bad
experience with him, but this is in NO WAY the norm. I can name dozens of
people that would walk through hell to save him. Ok. Nough said. Best of
luck in your search.

I am currently scehdulde for an open RNY on June 20 with Dr. Overcash. I
have spoken to several people who have already had surgery with him, and I
have already had mu consult. Everything I hear about him is complimentary
as far as surgical skills, followup etc. I felt very comfortable with him.
He also has a remarkable insurance woman, Patrice who has answered many
questions of mine. Good luck to you!

Margot, Do you know about the Find a Doc page? There's a link at the top
of this page. Click on it and then click on browse the list. Then click
on Florida. There are quite a few surgeons there, along with what cities
they are in. That might help quite a bit to narrow it down to a doc who's
close to you. You can also go to Find Peers and click on Florida. They
are sorted by city, so you could find people who live near you to see who
they used. Best of luck.

Florida isn't the size of California but it's still a pretty big state. I
can't access your profile to see where you're from. Can you narrow it down
a bit for me? I live in north Florida but went to Ocala for surgery.
There are only 2 doctors in Jacksonville who perform this surgery and one
is a military doctor so it limits who can use him. There are many great
doctors here and plenty of opinions available. Access the database here
and see what you can turn up to help you. Good luck!

I have to agree with Kristin, I love Dr. Haicken and his staff has been
great too. I love you too Melissa, but I havent heard of ANYONE else who
has had any kind of problem with Dr. Haicken. When I had to be readmitted
2 days after my release for dehydration, he called ahead to make sure I
could go right in, and he saw me twice a day himself, until he released me.
He was very concerned and was never anything but kind and compassionate to
me and my family. I HIGHLY recommend him. He requires a lot of pre-op but
thats a GOOD thing, You want to make sure that you are sick enough to need
the surgery and well enough to live through it! Its a precaution I have no
problem with! Good Luck!
