Question:
I am scheduled for surgery April 23......

I have asked all the questions I can think of except how long is the surgery? I'm having an open rny. I just wondered how long I'm going to be on the table.    — Laureen59 (posted on April 13, 2002)

I had open on 8/29/01. I was on the table for about one and 1/2 hours, however you are not aware of the passage of time. I remember very little of the recovery room, just remember waking up in my hospital room, looking around, and falling back asleep for most of the day. Good Luck.

Good luck with your surgery! I am scheduled for an open RNY on June 20. My doctor told me it would take approximately 35 minutes.

My Lap RNY took about three hours...laps take longer than open. I would guesstimate yours will be over in about two hours, but you should call your doc's office...hopefully his assistant would know! Good luck...

I just had open RNY on March 27th 2002. I was on the table for surgery for about 3 hours. I have been told that open takes anywhere from 2 to 3 hours that is long as everything goes ok.
