Question:
Stomach Burst??
Hello all,as I was reading a post from some other site about weight loss surgery,a woman(a WLS Patient) stated that"if you happen to over eat, after surgery, that your stomach will burst, because it is so small, is this true????? — LaDonya M. (posted on April 2, 2002)

Eat to much and you'll puke it fast!

LaDonya - if you overstuff your new pouch you will throw up, there's no
stopping it. One bite too many for me and I'm running for the bathroom.
You'd never get enough in there to "burst", you'll vomit first.
HOWEVER... I have heard of people who cannot vomit due to a surgical
procedure where they have done something to the area where the esophagus
and stomach meet. I don't know what happens to people like this and from
what I understand it is VERY RARE.

During the first few weeks, we're rather fragile, but um, no. The well
healed pouch is no more likely to burst (as in explode) then our original
stomachs upon overeating. It will "explode" out the top, as
everyone has said.
