Have you been denied? If so, the only thing that should be in your letter
is information that would answer the reasons you were denied. If you were
denied because of incomplete information, your doctor should correct that.
Make sure the doctor's office gave them the right codes and all the
documentation the insurance company wants to approve the surgery.

I just finished a letter to my insurance company. This is my first attempt
to get approved and I basically wanted them to know who I was as a person.
I walked them through a day in the life of me. From the minute I get up
until I fall into bed at night. I told them all of the things that are
hard for me to do, and how I feel looked down upon by other people. I also
included lots of info about my family history. My husband was considering
writing a letter as well, so the insurance company could see my situation
from his perspective. Hope this helps you and I wish you the best of luck.

Hi Giovanna:
My suggestion is to write a letter that deals with
the physical/emotional/vocational/social problems that
you are experiencing as a result of your weight. Include
such things (if they are applicable) as stress incontinence, lack of
mobility, breathing difficulties,
gallbladder problems, sadness, depression, lack of a social life, etc.
ALSO, include any and all attempts at losing weight in the past, name
programs, the amount lost and the following weight gain...I think these
things will help them
understand the medical necessity for the surgery. Good luck, let me know
how it all works out for you.
