Question:
I am 6 months post op and for the last 3 months I am throwing up mucus..

I am not talking a about a lil mucus. I am talking about over 1 to 1 1/2 cup fulls. I do not drink while I am eating. I chew my food up. It can last for 3 hours. So far my I have had an upper GI and an endoscope. I passed both test. I am getting so depressed. Thanks for your help.. Dawn    — Dawn T. (posted on February 9, 2002)

OK, so how much are you eating at one meal? And how big was your pouch to start? When did the vomiting start? When you say a cup of foam, are you talking all at once, after every meal? Or total for a day?

I have done this and i am pre-op. I was doing it in the mornings and my doctor could not figure out why. Then he checked me for an ear infection. I had a terrible one. It did not hurt and therefore it was hard to find. At night it was draining in my stomack and in the mornimgs I would be ill and fine later. Have your doc check for ear and sinus infections that my be draining.

I had the same thing for awhile until my doctor discovered that I was having severe post nasal drip and it was actually filling up my stomach until I would throw it up. I now take allergy medicine and the problem has ceased.

My doc put me on Claritin -D for nasal drainage and it quit ! I knew I have always had sinus problems but I never had the mucus vomit thing until my RNY. I never realized I was producing that amount of sinus drainage, gross isnt it ? If you find any other answer tell us.

About every ten days more or less I throw up a bunch of mucous. I have been on so many meds in my life, I don't really want more. I have always had post nasal drip. I prefer my way of course and it is not violent upchucking, so I can't see any harm.

Hi, I had the exact same problem, my doctor prescibed some allergy pills and I never took them. Just recently I have seen the doctor again and have started taking them, they have done wonders for me.
