Question:
Has anyone ever used the BTC in TX?
I have a consultation this week and was wondering about the facility. Basically it says they specialize in this area, so I wanted to know if it was a suitable place to consider. — Christy C. (posted on January 23, 2002)

Hi Christy! I have my consult at BTC in Wylie on Tuesday!! I'm nervous but
very excited! I think my biggest worry is whether insurance will pay or
not! Do you or does anyone else know the total cost at BTC if paying out of
pocket?

I had my wls at the BTC in Texas with Dr. Leverton. It has been 8 weeks and
I have lost approx. 48lbs. That's 6 lbs. per week and I am very pleased.
The BTC was out of network for me, however my maximum out-of-pocket for my
insurance is $2000 and the BTC will accept a payment plan. As of yet, I
have not received any bills. I believe the care that I received from Dr.
Leverton and the staff, while in the hospital was exceptional. I was
treated like I was the most important person there! I recommend the BTC
very highly. Please feel free to email if you have any other questions.

Since I am at the beginning of my journey, I have been researching doctors
and making appointments for seminars. I live in Garland, TX, so naturally I
called the BTC in Wylie. The first question the man asked me was "What
insurance co. do you have?" When I told him Blue Cross/Blue Shield of
New Jersey, he responded that they don't accept Blue Cross...period. He
wasn't very pleasant about it either. Now, I don't know what the deal is
because I know that this insurance co. does support this surgery. Maybe he
thought I was talking about the Texas branch? Anyway, I've moved on and
have a seminar with two doctors, which will be held on May 3rd and May 7th!
