Question:
Is it possible to develop this 10 mos post op?
I have never had a problem with milk products, but in the last few weeks, even a little milk in my coffee seems to bring on cramping, painful gas, and diarreah. I am not consuming any more milk than before. Why would I develop this now, instead of earlier post op? Thanks, Donna in AL — Donna S. C. (posted on January 20, 2002)

I could have asked this post. I too loved milk, now just a little starts a
war in my gut! Rumbling and rolling and cramps etc. I believe it is the
sugar in the milk, and most of us do become lactose intolerant. Just to
let you know you are not alone.

I had to switch to cream in my coffee (the real stuff) . I became lactose
intolerant a few weeks after surgery. Cream dosen't have any sugar . I
basically followed the adkins diet anyway. Oddly enough yogurt and cottage
cheese don't bother me , just milk. Go figure!
