Question:
I'm pre-op, can anybody recommend a good multi-vitamin to start taking now?

I too am pre-op and I have started taking my vitamins as well. I take
Centrum Advanced formula from A to Z. It is a pretty common multi vitamin
and can be bought at the local drug store or grocery store.

When I was preop I was taking Prenatal Vitamins with Iron and also loaded
up on Protein shakes to prepare myself for the healing process. That
worked wonders! I'll say that the protein and the vitamins made for a very
rapid and successful recovery. Good luck. (RNY 60" distal 08/28/01

i too am post op. my surgery is next tuesday. i have been an AMOS member
for about 7 mos & noticed that alot of our brothers & sisters use
Flintstones Complete because they r chewable. so last month hubby went out
& got me a bottle. they dont taste all that bad & i like the idea
of not having the vitamin sitting in my tummy waiting to be dissolved. i
also take 500mg of vit c with it for maximum iron absorption. they do leave
an aftertaste in my mouth tho, & i drink some water after i take it to
get rid of the taste. so what i am wondering is this...after my
surgery...will i have to stop drinking the water after i chew the vitamin?
it seems to me that if the water washes food out of the pouch it will also
wash the vitamin out before it can be absorbed.

I agree with the post about a children'ts vitamin. I take a children's ONE
A DAY vitamin. I was going to go with an adult liquid (Centrum) but the
childrens chewable has more iron. Just read labels!! Get whichever offers
the most for you. they don't taste THAT bad. LOL. GOD LUCK

I have noticed that alot of people here are mentioning that the Flinstone
Vitamins are a good choice.I am pre-op and decided to start taking them
now, just a money saver tip.........I found that Target has their brand of
those Vitamins with 500 vitamins for $10.00 compared to the regular brand
of 100 pills for $6.00.Anyone else use these, just wondering if they compare
enough??

I started taking the Sam's Club brand "Members Mark" childrens
Multi chewable...They where about $8 for a bottle of 240.... it doesn't say
if there is extra Iron in it but it does have 18 mg per tablet...I take 2
now but after surgery My dr wants me to take 3 a day plus 3 tums at bedtime
for extra calcium...
