Tiara,
I don't have the answer to your question. I have only one more appt and
then I should be ready for my file to be sent to the "committee"
for approval. What paperwork are you going to send in? Is Colleen Crumb
your wls coordinator? I am trying to go to PB too. I read so much about
them and really, really, want them to do the surgery.
Good Luck on your approval process, and I'll keep you in my prayers. Keep
me posted. Thanks, Joani

Just a note about Kaiser...there is a form your PCP has to fill out (he/she
can find it online through Kaiser) to get the approval process going.
Patients don't send their own paperwork in...the PCP takes care of that.
Mine included that online surgery form that my PCP and I filled out
together, results of my sleep apnea test, my psych evaluation, records of
my 10-week Health Lifestyles and Weight Management classes, and I also
included a 2 page letter from myself which outlined my past diet attempts
and a general history of my other co-morbidities and why I wanted the
surgery. Make sure you give your PCP your own letter to the
"committee" to include in your file. Also, Kaiser decided who
will go to San Diego (instead of So. San Francisco), and it totally depends
on PB's schedule and the number of people ahead of you that have been
waiting to be scheduled. When I was approved on Sept. 13th, I was told
there were approximately 200 people ahead of me to be scheduled for the RnY
surgery. I'll be having my surgery in Jan. or Feb. 2002. The approval
process takes anywhere from "three weeks to three months". Mine
took close to three months. I know the numbers aren't great to hear, but
be patient and it will happen for you. Hugs, Joy
