Question:
What % of WLS Post Ops actually keep their weight off after 5 years?
I'm having my surgery (open RNY) on December 12th. A friend has asked me if I knew what percentage of Post Ops have kept their weight off 5 years after surgery. I've been on so many diets, lost weight and gained it back within a year or two, that it's scary to think this could happen. Hopefully, after having this surgery I will have learned to slow down my eating, exercise more and choose healthier foods. Thanks for any information anyone can provide. — Bea T. A lot depends on the type of surgery you'll have, the way it is done and
the post-op plan you use. Any of those can play a part in the long term
outcome.

I discuss this on my webpage, http://www.lkdobson.homestead.com I took
notes during all my pre-weight loss surgery classes and they did quote the
statistics and why a percentage of people do fail on this surgery and how
to avoid being one of them. I found all the info presented to be VERY
useful, because I DO NOT intend to be one of those who re-gain the weight
!!! I included all of it on my webpage. Good luck to you!!!
