Have you recently gone off of caffeine? That can cause one nasty constant
headache. It's better to be "decaf" but you could try a few sips
of strong coffee or tea and see if it makes your headache go away. If it
does, then you know it's caffeine withdrawl and you'll have to tough it out
if you want to be away from it. Good luck.

I am the original poster... I went off caffeine 2 months ago and have been
fine. The headaches are since the surgery

Personally I would just call your surgeon and see if he can prescribe
something. Maybe it's a reaction to meds you had during/after surgery.
Maybe it's the weather. Either way, maybe your surgeon can prescribe
something. Hope you feel better.

I had a terrible H/A after surgery and my doc said that I was retaining
fluid and prescibed Lasix, a diuretic. It helped. I also would take some
potassium salt. (Morton's has one with 650mg/1/4tsp.)Potassium does the
opposite that sodium does. (releases fluid, vs holds it) I would call your
doctor and discuss the H/A with him. Good Luck!

I am 10 wks post op (open RNY) and started having headaches at about my 3rd
week. I was puzzled too and tried tylenol without any relief. I posted on
this site and received some helpful answers: try eating a little
carbohydrate like crackers or some fruit (no sugar added of course)--you
may be having a drop in blood sugar. (I am not diabetic but this does help
me) Also increase your water; even though you are drinking
"enough" it seems to get rid of the headache faster (works for
me) and third, ask your doc for a prescription for Ultram-- its safe for us
to use and really works like a charm. Hang in there I noticed that my
headaches are getting less frequent as time goes by.

The first and most important symptom of dehydration is a headache! Make
sure youre getting in all of your liquids. I know its hard, even for
myself, but try. Good luck!

I started getting severe headaches 2 days after surgery. I told them that
in the hospital and they just told me to give myself morphine. When I got
home, it wasn't getting any better and it finally hit me, I had not taken
my celexa (anti depressant) since the day before surgery. I started them
immediately and voila!!!!!! no more headache. It could be something
similar.
