Question:
Does anyone have a list of participating restaurants that will honor the WLS card ?
I received one from my doctor the day before surgery. Haven't tried it yet, but was wondering who would honor the pass. Thanks. — Jill M. (posted on November 8, 2001)

I use mine all the time and I have used it at many different places and not
one restaurant yet has said that I can't eat off of the senior or child
menu. Everyone one of them have had no problems.

I have been able to use mine ate every restaurant so far except Red
Lobster. They would not let me order from the kids menu even with my card.
They said if they let me do it they would have to let everyone. This was
coming from the manager too. I ended up ordering a half order of Crab
Alfredo and ate it for my next three meals. Kathy

My surgeon is not willing to sign the card. I don't know why. Perhaps I can
have my "regular doctor" sign it seeing my surgeon will not?

Well, i dont think anyone HAS to treat us "special" but i think
if that happend to me, i would just tactfully say "Well If i cannot
order from the childrens menu, then you will lose money because I will just
eat from my husbands plate." Or something like that. ??? Unless ya
all can think of one better!!! jacki

My husband and I have gone out to breakfast a few times and I was turned
down at IHOP and Marie Callandars. The meal at Marie C. was a buffet and
the waitress said if she caught me eating off anybody's plate I would be
charged $10.99, needless to say we won't go back. The truck stop restraunts
here have been very good about letting me order off the kids menu.

My surgeon won't sign the restuarnt card so when I go to an all you can eat
place, so I pull my shirt up and show my incision! Almost always they will
let me have the children's buffet. Sometimes they don't and I just walk
out. If I eat somewhere (this time NOT an all you can eat place) there is
no use for me to order a regular meal and take it home. I CAN NOT stand
eating left overs now. Since the Bypass if I eat anything I take home from
a restuarant it turns my stomach! I'd like to know if anyone else has that
problem. So if i can't eat off the childrens menu I will just politely walk
out as I don't want to take anything home as it is "terrible to re
eat" it.

Ok, stupid question.... if your surgeon won't sign the card, WHY DON'T YOU
SIGN IT YOURSELF? It's not like Peggy-Sue at IHOP is going to know if it's
really your surgeon's signature.

You can order off the child's menu (regardless of age or surgery) at any
Cracker Barrel Restaurant and they are very nice about it.
Usually, my husband just tells the waiter of a restaurant that we'd like to
split an order and we've only had one problem. It was a nice upscale
restaurant. They said, "no problem" but they ended up charging
us $4.95 for my "extra" plate.
Also, when going to cafeterias, we ask for an extra plate and I eat from my
husband's food. It's just right for both of us.

Daniel, I too can no longer stand leftover's. Isn't that strange. My
surgeon gave me a card, but, I have to admit I'm to embarrassed to use it.
Thankfully I have two wonderful dogs at home who are more than willing to
not let the food go to waste.
