Is anyone keeping track of things like inches lost in Shoulders, wrists, ankels, neck? — Sue R. T. (posted on September 20, 2001)

1 day before surgery I took pics and measured my neck, bust, waist, hips,
upper arms and thighs. I wish I measured my wrist because the first sign I
received of weight loss was my watch being too loose. Also wish I'd
measured my ankles. I measure once a month on the anniversary of my
surgery date. Measurements are nice for when you think you aren't losing
weight but are losing inches. Good luck!

I wish I had taken measurements. The only ones I'm sure about is that 7
months ago my neck was 18" and now it is only 15" and my wrists
were 7.25" and now they are 6.5"

I've measured my neck, upper arm, wrist, bust, waist, stomach, hips, thigh,
calf, and ankle. It really freaks you out the first time you see your
ankles or wrists have gotten smaller!

No, tracking clothing sizes is enough for me. I've gone from size 32
dresses to size 14's. My shoe size has gone from a 12 extra wide to
10 medium. I once wore a size 50DDD bras and now I wear a 38C. I just
bought a cool pair of high black boots with a three inch heel. It's the
first time I've been able to zip a boot on my leg in 30 years! And I
never thought I'd ever be able to wear a high heel....now I'm stutting
around in 3 inch ones!! I wear my wedding ring on a chain around my neck
because my ring finger is now a size 8 and my gorgeous diamond eternity
band
is a size 11. Ahhhhhhh...life is good.

I am measuring mostly hips and abdomen because I can calculate my percent
body fat from those two measurements. I also occasionally measure my arm,
bust, calf, and thigh. I love this because I can see exactly how much my
body has changed even if my mind won't let me see it in the mirror! I have
lost 7 inches from my waist and 12 inches from my hips. I have also lost 3
1/2 inches from my arms and 3 inches from my calves. My percent body fat
has gone from 57% to 33% (21% to 27% is normal range for women my age). I
like to use the measurements and percent body fat calculation to get an
accurate picture of the changes that are happening in my body. The scale
definitely does not show the whole picture.
