Question:
The Dr.'s office did not send my request to the insurance company

I went to see Dr. Lane in Mobile, AL. in August of this year and I called the Dr office 1 week later to see if my letter had been sent to the insurance company for approval and the lady that handles the insurance said you have to be on your job 1 year before you will be approved. I thought it was the insurance company that decides if you are approved or not. If anyone can help please email me at [email protected]    — April P. (posted on September 17, 2001)

Sometimes the insurance people can call and find out if it's a covered service. They may have told her when she called that the service wouldn't be covered for the year. It's not an uncommon practice.
