Huh. Goes to show you that all docs are different. I asked mine at 2 months
what abdominal exercises I could do and he said "anything you
want." I do crunches, but I did start very slowly and stopped if I
felt uncomfortable. You might try something that is not expressly for the
abs but uses the abs as stabilizers. I do a lot of squat and deadlift
variations at relatively low weights (I started out at about 10 pounds on
the Smith machine--I was scared to death that my guts would fall out on the
floor! lol). If you have access to a rowing machine, that is pretty
total-body, too. The bottom line is that if you are doing weights, you are
using your abs in some capacity. Don't worry too much about focusing on
them until your dr says it's okay. With all the other stuff you're doing
you will be able to pick it up at 6 months with no problems.
