Question:
I'm bottom heavy... how does the skin tend to shrink in this situation?
I'm more bottom heavy... big butt, thighs and hips. I'm worried that I will have really saggy thighs. Can someone tell me their experience who is post-op and is or was in the same situation as I am? Also, what about breasts...(sorry men ;] )? — ladeechef (posted on August 10, 2001)

i too am bottom heavy. i had surgery in february and started to lose weight
from everywhere but my bottom half. i was wearing a size 18 shirt and a
size 26/28 bottom when i decided to go to the gym. i started working out on
the stairmaster 30 minutes and the bike 30 minutes (everytime i go to the
gym) and doing an upper body routine and a lower body routine every other
day. i work out about 5 days a week and it's painful and boring but it's
working! my bottom is down to a size 20 pant. i am wearing an xl top.
the skin never tightens and i will need a thigh lift but i know i am
developing muscle underneath the skin.
best to you. t.a.

I'm bottom heavy too. Big butt and thighs; but, I always had
a flat tummy. I think that helped a lot because I have lost 120lbs
and my tummy is nice and flat with no excess skin at all. My
thighs are slimmer but far from thin and a bit "jiggly" but I
don't need any
plastic surgery. I still have a big butt; however, at a size
16 (down from a size 32), it doesn't bother me. I'm real happy with my
figure as it is because I don't need any plastic surgery at all. Some
of the people in my support group have lost less weight than I and have
skin hanging every where. That was my worse fear. I think that carrying
your weight in the thighs and butt works out much better than carrying
it in the chest and stomach areas. Just my opinion from observing people
at support groups. I have decided to stop losing and maintain my weight at
a size 16. I've been luck and I don't want to risk losing another 30 or 40
pounds and ending up with excess skin problems.

I have always been bottom heavy. Even when I weighed less, I still had a
very big backside. Luckily, the weight loss for me has really concentrated
on my biggest asset (so to speak)! I have lost much more from my butt than
from any other area. I am now wondering if my waist will keep up. However,
the plus side is that I actually fit in clothes now. Before, by the time I
bought clothes to fit my butt, they were huge in the waist. Now everything
fits! Also I have not lost any in the breasts, but my bra measurements have
changed because I have lost fat in my back. Now I am more proportioned,
with my hips and bust measuring the same and my waist about 10 inches
smaller than that.
