Question:
Looking for Current information on UC Davis WLS scheduling
Hi, I have just been referred to UC Davis for a consultation by my Insurance Company. I would like to hear from anyone who has recently dealt with them as far as their scheduling of surgery after consultation and how long a wait to expect for a consultation appointment? Thank you for any information. — Katherine H. (posted on August 9, 2001)

I live in Sacramento and have several friends that have had surgery at UC
Davis. I had thought about going there myself, but ended up going to LA for
the DS procedure. When I called in Feburary, it was a pretty long wait
until consultation. When you call, they will send you a packet through the
mail, and once you fill it out and send it back to them, they will schedule
your appointment. From that point on, I am not sure how long it would take
for approval or a surgery date. What insurance do you have? Do you plan on
having lap or open? There is also Dr. Waldrep in Roseville, that is an
excellent surgeon, but he only perfoms lap. Please e-mail me personally, I
would love to talk with you more..... [email protected]

Hi, I am going through UC Davis. I started the process in Feb with my first
consult not being until June. My second consult was a month later on July
25th. I just was given a surgery date of Nov 29th. I know this seems like a
long time but I am willing to wait for the expertise of Dr Wolfe. He has
been doing this surgery for over 20 years. From what I have heard they are
now scheduling first consults in March of 2002. Good Luck to You!

I sent in my paperwork over 2 months ago and have been told I have a 3 year
wait or longer for a consulation becasue I have medi-cal,Then the Dr with
my paperwork went on vacation for a month, they were supposed to call me
after he got back and that has been 6 weeks ago,I don't hink they are
calling me back.
I decided to get a private insurance and go with a local Doctor instead of
being descrimanted against.
They told me private insurance would get me in within 6 months for a
consult.
I wish you luck with them....

I had to attend a meeting before scheduling a consultation, I did those
both in May 2000, then I had to get a bunch of tests done, I did them all
in June, and then my appointment date wasn't set until July 25th. So close
to 4 months from start to finish....
