Question:
Are all pouches the same size?
Does the doctor make the poches different sizes for different people. For example I was 220 to start would he make mine the same size as someone who was 320. How does that work? — [Anonymous] (posted on July 21, 2001)

Hi there! No not all pouch sizes are the same. Mine is about 1/2 to 3/4 oz.
as a new post-op, and a girlfriend of mine who had another surgeon is also
a new post-op has a 2 oz. pouch. Both very small and will do the trick. As
far as will a surgeon vary the pouch size by the individual, some drs. may.
Mine doesn't seem to. At my 2nd pre-op consultation there were 3 of us
prospective patients and I asked how big the pouch would be. He said
between 1/2 to 3/4 oz. size. Not much of difference considering the weight
of the three of us varied quite a bit. Probably a good question to add to
your list of pre-op questions for your particular surgeon.
