Question:
Pain after eating or drinking
I'm 4 weeks post-op and I'm having pain after eating or drinking and it will last for hours. I'm eating small amounts very slowly & still using the blender. Also the protein drinks make me nauseated. Help, I'm not getting enough nutrients or protein. — Linda H. (posted on July 15, 2001)

If the pain is new or increasing you may be getting a narrowing of your
stoma. Your doctor can stretch it by using a endscope.
Many folks dont tolerate protein drinks at this time

I too am almost 4 weeks post-op and have had a few episodes of discomfort
after eating and one pain episode. OF course, I would expect that most
people would have assumed that you would have called your doc. Did he seem
concerned? My doc seemed to be pretty laid back about the protein
supplements, yet I am tolerating them fine. I am tired of the sweet taste,
even those with no sugar. There is a grape flavored one that kind of tastes
like grape kool-aid from GNC and the vitalady.com website. I had to mix the
GNC one with water but it was a nice break from the shake format. I would
also want to know where is your pain and a desciption of it. Does it feel
like a rock? I had that one time and the doc said it will pass in time and
it did. I worry that it sounds like this happens at every feeding though. I
would love to know what your doc will or has said. I wish you luck!
