Question:
Do most Surgeon's send a letter to the Insurance?

My Surgeon I was referred to by my PCP told me I needed approval BEFORE he would even give me a Consultation. Is this right? My Surgeon is Dr. Thomas Helling, in KC, MO.    — sbinkerd1 (posted on June 20, 2001)

The process varies among surgeons. Some will see you before submitting documentation for approval, while others insist that you need to be approved by your ins co before seeing them. For me, I have to be approved first and then the consultation and surgery date will be scheduled. I wish you all the best.
