Question:
I am 17 day's Post-op, and I only lost weight the fist week, and now I have not lost
any more???? I am on a liquid diet per my Doctor. I just don't get it! I hear peoples stories every day about how the weight just keeps coming of them. In the first 6 day's I lost about 14/15 pounds, and then about 3/4 more a few day's latter, but have not lost anymore in the last 7/8 day's?!?!?! Any reason why this may be? Thanks in advance — [Anonymous] (posted on June 11, 2001)

Hi! Calm down :0) I'm still pre-op, but I hear that it is VERY common to
hit a plateau around the 3rd week & 6th week post-op. Everything will
be fine! Take Care!

Hi. Same thing happened to me. I lost an average of 2 pounds a day for
the first week and then went on a plateau. I was so worried something was
wrong because I had heard of plateaus as early as week 3 but not at the end
of one. Anyway, mine lasted 4 days, and then it just broke and I've been
losing about a pound a day since. I just passed week 3 and didn't lose
anything yesterday so who knows if this is another plateau or just a day
without weight loss. Unless you're drinking really high calorie liquids I
wouldn't worry about anything. I knows it easy to say for me though, as
it's not my plateau. Best of luck, and write me if you feel like it. S

Hi! I'm about 3 and a half weeks post op and the same thing has happened
to me. I've been doing a lot of reading and asking my surgeon a lot of
questions and this is normal! Remember that your body is still kind of in
shock from what has just been done and it is going to try to hold on to the
weight as long as it can! Even though in the long run, this is healthier
for your body, it doesn't know that right now. So, keep your chin up and
don't get discouraged. I'll promise to do the same thing! Good luck!
