Question:
How long does it usually take for the medical review board to make a decison?
I found out today that my information is(was) sent to the medical review board today. It was there once and they requested additional information from my pcp. I know I need to just be patient and let this happen. but if you know me..the word patient does not go well...lol..anway..If it takes awhile is that a good sign? If it doesn't take very long is that a bad sign? You can just tell me to stop looking for signs..I would understand...Thanks friends...God Bless! — Kimberly L. (posted on April 19, 2001)

I dont have an answer as I am waiting also. Bcbs told me my paperwork went
to medical review on mar.30, I am getting very impatient as it seems to be
taking a long time. When you read of people getting approval in a short of
a time as 1 day, it makes me wonder what the heck is bcbs doing! I would
like to know if there is a time limit or can they take as lond as they
want? I am getting very frustrated myself. I hope we hear soon!!

Usually 30 days. Call the customer service dept. of your insurance carrier
and politely ask the status. If they tell you "still in review",
ask by when they are required to answer.
