Question:
I am 4months post op and for two weeks have been having increasingly more severe
right upper quadrant pain that is radiating to my back and causing spasmodic like pain.. The pain is a 6 on a scale of 1-10 and has been as much as 9 .. I have clay colored stools, elevated liver enzymes, and also elevated white count.. nausea is constant.. occasional vomiting.. all food and drinks increases the pain.. I am scheduled for endoscopy Monday.. and had CT scan .. was neg for duct obstruction on Thursday.. Does anyone know what this could be other than a biliary duct obstruction or early pancreatitis .. and How common are t these after open RNY.. It was suggested that this could be gallbladder related.. but I no longer have a gallbladder.. Thanks Gina .. please email replies to [email protected] — Gina Landers (posted on April 8, 2001)

I had this same pain 2 weeks post op. My doctor was afaid it was the
gallbladder but come to find out it was stomach irritation. I really didn't
believe him with the pain radiating to my back but after 2 days of taking
Prevacid it was gone. Good Luck!

It could be nn-infectious hepatitis, or an inflammation of the
bile/pancreatic ducts, or gastritis, or pancreatitis...lots of things. It
sounds a bit like what I'm having...sigh. Let's don't give up until we get
relief...I know what you mean about the "6" on a scale of 10. I
had short bout of the "9" last nght. Well, maybe an eight.--Jesse

Thank you all for your responses to my question.. My pain is the result of
many marginal ulcers along a disrupted staple line..I am now scheduled for
revision surgery next Wednesday ... I hope that this surgery goes smoothly
and easy .. I will be back online in a few weeks..
Hugs,
