I have MS plus other co-morbidities including hypertension, Type-II
Diabetes, sleep apnea, shortness-of-breath and arthritis in my weight
bearing joints. I have been for my consultation with the surgeon and he is
aware of all of these issues. I spoke to my internist and to a
cardiologist about my having surgery with all my problems, both said they
thought it was a good option for me. The only professionals I haven't
spoke to are my neurologist and the anesthesiologist. I have concerns
about an MS exacerbation. My psych consult is at the end of this month and
I understood from my surgeon that he would schedule my surgery after all
the pre-op stuff. I have already had an upper GI checking for a hiatal
hernia and have had a recent echocardiogram and persantine stress test.
Good luck to you and keep us posted.
