Question:
What is the total cost for surgery at Alvarado in San Diego?
I am interested in hearing from patients of Alvarado. What was your cost? I have insurance 80/20 so I am trying to decide if I can afford to go to Alvarado. — Chenoah H. (posted on March 1, 2001)

I've been approved by my insurance provider, to go with Alvarado Medical
Center in San Diego, I have Blue Cross Blue Sheild the same 80/20 (Already
Approved) and my deposit would be a total of 7,500.00, I am not to mention
am comming for out of state, the hotel fee, I'm looking at an easy 9,000.00
out of pocket expense, to much for me, I've gone ahead and scheduled my
surgery with them, for Aug 9, 2002, It'll take me that long to save up the
money, But I'm also doing my home-work, I'm checking out other hospitals in
the Area as well, I have a seminar I'm going to this week for the Coastal
Center Of Obesity, by what I'm hearing they would only charge me about
$3,000 out of pocket. Best advice, do your home work, research your doctor,
and check your options, just becuase it's the most expensive doesn't mean
it's always the best.
