Question:
Is it common to develop a hernia after WLS?
I have been reading several people's comments in the web site and am curious of whether this is common. Please advise. — kle713 (posted on February 26, 2001)

yes, incisional hernias are common after surgeries -- espcially is you
aren't extremely dilligent in following orders: DO NOT lift over 10 pounds
for 2 months, do not vacuum for 2 months, do not shovel snow or strain
extremely hard. These are MUSTS. I've had an incisional hernia repaired
TWICE! So, I have been really careful after my WLS and so far, so good.
Best wishes to ya.
