I think it's pretty common, if you are only 6 days out you probably haven't eaten much so the lightheadness and dizziness isn't unusual. I remember being like that, headaches are probably not from eating too. Didn't you ever get a headache pre-op and then after you ate it went away, same thing here. If you are real concerned you could call your doc but I don't think you have anything to worry about. Your body has to adjust to not receiving hefty portions of food from now. I'm sure you will do great, in a month you won't even remember feeling bad! Good luck! 3 months out-70 pounds gone!

I had this big time post op. I went to my pcp and it turned out that one of my ears was really filled w/gunk, so he cleaned them out and put me on meclezine for a couple of days. Then is all went away. This was like 4 wks post. I don't know if they were realated, or just a coincidence. I think just a coincidence, don't see how the two are related. But the other post could just be the problem too. I could be from lack of eating, or eating habits. Change in diet. You could also be getting dehydrated. Try increasing your water. If all else fails call your doc.

Kim, there are many different types of pain meds that cause those symptoms in me. Codeine and derivatives nearly make me faint. I get terribly lightheaded and have blacked out several times. A side effect of many pain meds is hypotension--low blood ptressure which is characterized by your exact symptoms. If you are still taking prescription pain meds, you may consider this a possible cause. Trying something different for pain may help.

I agree with Shelly- it could be your pain meds. Also, I suggest trying to get in MORE water (I am sure you are trying already!) Walking will also help get the anesthetic out of your system, but be careful not to overdo it or fall if you are really dizzy! If it does keep up- of course call your Dr- that is what you pay him for!
