Question:
Does anyone know if Blue Cross Blue Shield gives you a hard time about coverage

I am wanting to get the Gastric By-pass procedure done but i dont know if Blue Cross Blue Shield os going to cover it. Has any used this insurance for this procedure??????    — Cynthia W. (posted on November 27, 2000)

There are so many BCBS plans that it is hard to answer this question. I had Capital BCBS of PA and they covered with no problem at all.

I have BC/BS (Empire PPO)of North Carolina. I was approved in 24 hours time; almost over the phone. The nurse asked me a series of questions as to aftercare of the surgery. Call the medical managment team for your policy and find out what info they need in order to approve your claim and if the surgery is covered in your policy. It will help with the amount of time for approval and possibly a denial letter for your first claim. Good luck, Jan
