I had a total hysterectomy with removal of my ovaries last year. I haven't
had my RNY yet, so I don't know about having the two surgeries so close
together. You'll definitely need to ask your doctor about the scar tissue
and recovery time, because your body will be having so much trauma in only
one year. I know I took the entire six weeks off from work after the
hysterectomy; you'll need it. There's a great website called "Hyster
Sisters." Much like this one; it is very supportative and full of
information. Best of luck!

I would definetly have a talk with your weight loss surgeon. If possible I
would have your surgeon contact the surgeon who will be performing the
hysterectomy so that he knows exactly what he is dealing with. Since RNY
isn't a procedure that most doctors know ( I know this because when I
called around for a PCP most of the doctors said "what is RNY?), you
want to be extra careful that whoever is going to perform such a major
surgery on you is aware of what else you have been through so he can be
sure to take extra precautions. I wish you luck and hope everything works
out.

I had Surgery when I was 6 1/2 months out. I did sooo much better than with
the RNY. My body is healing nicely. I'm so much more healthy after loosing
the weight and loosing the co-morbidities!!! Good Luck, and God Bless You

I believe they like to wait a year between elective surgeries. How well
you are doing with respect to blood count, iron levels, etc. needs to be
taken into account also. I had a total hysterectomy one year prior to my
gastric bypass and I did fine - the reverse situation, I don't know. Is
there a way to put it off a while, or are you bleeding alot and having your
iron level dropping? This is a decision for knowledgeable professionals,
not us. Best wishes.
