Anyone who had a million stretch marks before their surgery......

Did they go away? I have a million stretch marks everywhere! knees, arms, legs, thighs, tummy, everywhere! I am about 135lbs overweight.    — Amber S. (posted on November 4, 2000)

I'm afraid not Amber. Stretch marks are scars, and they never go away, unless you get them surgically removed. I have found that the areas of my skin that have stretch marks have not bounced back as well as other areas as I lose weight. What is left is loose skin with grooves in it from the stretch marks, and the marks seem even more noticeable than before when I was fat. I'm hoping to get rid of some of these with a tummy tuck in a few years, but I guess the rest will be a physical reminder to me of how far I have come.
