How long did it take for your Dr. to send off letter to insurance company

I saw my surgeon 1 week ago. Today I called his office to see when they sent a letter to my insurance company requesting approval for WLS. The women that submits the letters said she had not sent it yet. How long does it usually take?    — [Anonymous] (posted on November 1, 2000)

The doctors office sent the letter to the insurance company the next day after my consultation. You can ask them to fax you a copy of the letter. It is also helpful to call the insurance company on a regular basis for status of the request. My insurance company approved the request within two days after receipt.
