Question:
Has anyone noticed scalp tenderness with their hair loss?
I am four months post-op and the hair loss has started. I have also noticed that my scalp is very tender and wondered if this is normal. — Mary F. (posted on October 16, 2000)

Hi Mary! I too am a little over four months post-op and YES, I'm
definitely experiencing scalp tenderness with my hairloss. I think it's
normal, though because when my thyroid was out of whack a few years ago, I
lost a lot of hair and had the tenderness then, too. One thing that has
helped me is to wash my hair every morning and to brush it a few times a
day to stimulate the scalp. Hope this helps! Candace

Mary, I have scalp tenderness also. I am 1 week postop and haven't noticed
the hair loss yet but sure do have the tenderness. Wonder if the nurses
used our hair to move us around ? Ha Ha.

Hi... I am about 13 months post op and I have experienced recent scalp
tenderness due to a run in with an evil hair pin :-) Now I am not a doctor
or anything.. but I used some OraGel on my scalp and it helped me... and if
you try it... I hope it helps you too... Just had to share...

Yes! I get a creepy crawley feeling over my scalp. Thank goodness I used
to have enough hair for three people, because I have been really losing it.
Clumps in the shower. Scary, need to get back on my protein drink. My
mother took chemotherapy about 5 times, and she described a strange skin
crawling feeling on her head to as she was losing. It must be the hair
follicle giving up on holding on!
