Hi,
Many types of wls also cure GERD, also many surgeons remove your
gallbladder when they perform wls. Go to the weight loss surgeon, explain
your problems - you may be able to get an earlier surgery date due to the
problems.

Go have surgery...the GERD improves!! I no longer take a bottle of tums
daily. Go for it.

Be completely open and honest with the surgeon. He is very familiar with
this entire area of the body and may do other types of surgries as well.
He was cetainly trained in other types of surgeries. Gallbladder removal
often accompanies WLS because dieting damages this organ. When doc gets in
there and checks it as part of the surgery, he removes it if need be. I
know some people post that their surgeon orders the gallbladder be checked
in preop testing to know aforehand its condition. Bring this up to your
doctor so he can put your fears to rest appropriately. As has been
stated before many people here post WLS "cured" the GERD,
hearburn, etc. When I went to the Gastro he handed me a sheet and
underlined weight loss. Jerk! But my point being weight loss does help
the other. Depending on your condition an appropriate date will be
scheduled I am sure. There is always room left for emergencies or
conditions while not emergency certainly eminent, those not going to end of
line. Best wishes.
