Question:
Elevated Liver Enzymes. I had my first post op blood work done a few days ago and to
my surprise my liver enzymes were still elevated (double what they were pre op). My PCP requested that I go back to my Gasto doctor to see what's up. My enzymes have been elevated for the last 5 years and I was told by every doctor that if I lost weight they would go down, I have a fatty liver. I have lost 90 pounds since surgery 4/4/2000 and have 40 to go. Now I don't know what to do all my other blood work was fine. Have any of you had this problem and did your enzymes go down after a while? Could it be the increase in protein or the B-12 shots. I just had a shot 1 1/2 prior to my blood being drawn. — ann A. I also have elvated liver, pre-op and dr. said this should decrease after
weight loss, well i am still pre-op so the only advise i can tell you is
this, did your gastro run all the test, hepatitus, lupus, mono and many more,
did you have a cat scan, how did he determine it was fatty liver, just
because you were fat doesn't mean its fatty liver, if your gastro has not
ran these test i suggest you see a different gastro! good luck, oh and by
the way i dropped just 8 lbs on my own and my liver elvation dropped a bit,
so you see with just a little weight loss mine decreased.
