I was 5'1", 262. 6 yrs ago. But MUCH older. At our local groups,
this qustion is often asked, "Do you have any regrets about this
surgery?" The most common answer? "That I didn't do it 20 years
ago."

I agree with Michelle. I wished I would of had this 20 years ago when I was
your age. What a waste of life being obese for me. Good Luck!

I agree with the previous two posts! However, only you know what your
struggle has been like, and whether there is the possiblity of another way
out or not. Talk to the surgeon first and then go from there, along with
research, research, research!!! I wish I had found this 20 years ago too!
To be young and thin, YEAH BABY!!!

I say GO FOR IT GIRL!!! I wish I would have done this a lot sooner. I am
only 37 but spent most of my life fat. I HATED IT. There was a
19-year-old girl in my room when I had surgery that was about your height
and was 280+ pounds. Someone asked her why she waas having this surgery at
such a young age. Her answer was that she would like to know what it is
like to go out on a dat before she gets out of college. While that may
seem like a not-so-good reason, I think we who have been obese as teens all
know that there is a lot more to it than that, but she didn't have the
words to express it all. If you have the means available to you to do this
for yourself, I think you owe it to yourself to find the joy that being
healthy will give you. Good luck.

Yes, I would do it if I were you. You can still have children later if you
want and I wish I had done it sooner. 35 years old and 22 pounds gone
forever.

You've got to do what you think is best for you. I'm 5' nothing and
started at 234. Surgery May 1, -64 lbs. I wasn't on any medications (had
elevated bp and sleep disturbances) but with my family history, I knew they
were coming. Good luck w/ whatever you decide.
