Hi, If you check the archives we did this question recently, but this is what I ate yesterday & how I take my vitamins. When I wake i IMMEDIATELY have coffee with 1 Niferex 150 Forte, 1 Centrum, 1 ADEK and 1 Tums. This is half of my doctor's usual protocol, but my blood work continues to be so good that I am advised to stay at this level. I usually start the day with a bacon, egg & cheese bisquit sandwich at McD's or yesterday I had a bagel with butter and 1/4 lb whitefish salad. Since surgery, breakfast is my biggest meal of the day. An involuntary change in my life. I used to pack it away at night and skip breakfast. Morning snack was about a cup of grapes and cup of pistashio nuts. Lunch was a bowl of ham and pea soup with croutons and crackers. Snack: box of Dots. later 1/2 dozen rootbeer barrels. Popped a few Tums during the day too. Dinner: Shared a children's meal of fried clams and french fries with a child. Bowl of cherry vanilla ice cream and 1/2 bowl of pistashio nuts. This is a typical day for me at 10 months out from the BPD/DS. Note it is also typical that I took an aerobics class at the Y. I am down 130 lbs & checking out plastic surgery options with some of my other successful DS looser pals this Saturday. Hope this helps.

Here is what I ate yesterday. Slimfast for breakfast, cup of vegetable soup with crackers for lunch, bowl of angel hair pasta with meat sauce and a piece of garlic toast for dinner. I also had a six pack of peanut butter crackers while at my desk at work. I have a perscription for chewable pre-natal vitamins (Natachew) that I take while drinking my slimfast in the morning. and I also have a chewable calcium and vitamin c in the am and pm. I hope this helps and good luck.

I had my surgery 9 months ago. I take my medication immediately when I get up --- a thyroid medication plus two chewable vitamins. For breakfast I usually eat a boiled egg or a 1 egg omelette. For lunch I either have soup or a very small side salad with some cheese or egg on it. For dinner I have 2 ounces of protein (chicken, fish or beef) and then whatever side dishes I have fixed for the family I have a couple small bites of those. I have no bread until I reach my year mark and I don't drink any sodas. I have found that my aftercare program is relatively strict compared to some others, but it has worked well for me. I'm down 185 pounds. Hope this helps.

Hi. When I wake up I take 1 mg. of risperdol, 1 women's ultra mega multi(GNC) and ortho tri-cyclen (the pill). I have a pro-blend 55 protein shake with 1/2 of a banana. In addition yesterday I had 1 cup of popcorn around 10:00 am. Then at 1:00 pm I had a small chili from Wendy's (I probably shouldn't be eating at Wendy's, I know!). At 6:00 pm I had 1/2 an ear of sweet corn and 4 oz. of filet mignon and mushrooms. At 10:00 pm I had some bourbon in a tumbler with some ice. At bedtime I have 2 mg. of risperdol and another multi. Throughout the day I have 10 glasses of water and/or passion ice tea (it's good, it's red in color from starbucks, yum...). That's it. This day was 1250 calories total.

Open RNY (proximal) 04/26/00; 1 oz pouch; down 75 lbs. First, I am NEVER hungry. That is the weirdest thing about my surgery. Yesterday I had my chewable multivitamin with sugar free koolaid when I got to work. 30 minutes later I had 1/2 slice of an individual quiche; lunch was 3/4 of smallest chicken salad cup from Chic-Fil-A and 3 crackers. Afternoon snack was 6-8 peanuts; supper was 8 oz watermelon sorbet. I drink water or its equivalent (kool aid with sugar substitute, tea with sugar substitute) all day long; do not eat anything after 7:00 pm at night; limit myself to one snack a day; make lunch my biggest meal. I have slipped from drinking two protein supplements per day, but I am going to make one RIGHT NOW as I am on a plateau. Good luck!

Tennille: I read the answers you've been given on here and want to add that it certainly depends on what type of surgery you've had and the size of your pouch.

I'm an open Divided RNY... I started at 367 pounds surgery date 12/8/99.. I just went to my PCP yesterday for my checkup.. I weighed in at 221.5 that's 145 pounds gone.. I eat a very normal healthy menu... no different from any of the other posts I do make sure my dishes are lowest fat content and use sugar substitutes is the only difference.. My portions are smaller as some that have posted, however, it all relative to the size of the stomach.. Full is full no matter what the stomach size is..and mind set satisfaction is exactly the same.. Having said that.. For breakfast I had my portion of a Mexican breakfast casserole (eggs, cheese, bacon)... Lunch today I just had 3oz oven grilled white fish left over from last night that all I had to do was warm up I had it with tartar sauce and some cottage cheese and two crackers.. This afternoon I'll have my protein drink Problend55 4 oz water and ice for my snack.. For dinner we have company coming over so BBQing T-bone steaks, baked potatoes, corn on cob and salad.. I'll concentrate on the steak of course my favorite with one of my low fat sugar free sauces and few bites of pineapple for a natural meat tenderizer ;-) I'll make some sort of sugar free dessert for the gang.. My family has chose to eat pretty much what I do and have not missed a thing.. I take my Calcium with D & K in the morning and my Trinsicon & pepsid.. afternoon I take Flintstones complete with iron and Vitamin E ... That's all I take.. You will find out from all the RNY's that we eat very normal anything and everything we want just smaller portions.. Because we just don't need quarts of food to maintain us. The term "Bigger" is not always better" is SO true... ;-)

My diet may give you some indication as to how "normal" I eat 6 weeks RNY post-op. I take my vitimins (centrum, 500mg B12, 1 viactive chew and a ferrous fumerate iron) one to two hours after I have my breakfast. Breakfast yesterday was 1/3 cup rasin bran, 1/3 cup lactaid skim milk (with two xtra strength lactaid tablets). For lunch I had a sushi roll that had shrimp, tuna, salmon, flounder and eel in it. It was cut up into 6 pieces but I only ate 5. For dinner hubby made cheeseburgers (on the grill from 98% lean sirloin and 2% cheese). I had mine on a pita pocket with 1/2 teaspoon mayo and 1/2 teasoppn dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon relish and a big slice of fresh tomato. I cut that in half, (I will probably have the other half tomorrow for lunch). I also bought some TGIFridays spinach and artichoke dip and had about a tablespoon of that (only 2 grams of fat for 2 tablespoons and it has 2 or 3 grams of protein!) with 5 or 6 mini baked tostidos. No problems! I hope this helps. Luv,...
